- The
Convergence of Corporate Governance and Corporate Social
Responsibility (PDF)
March 2005
Corporate governance reform efforts of the past decade have
bumped into decade-old efforts to mainstream social and
environment responsibility of corporations and a growing
awareness that firms’ off balance sheet environmental
and social impacts can have tangible financial consequences.
This encounter has fueled a debate regarding the degree
and nature of convergence between corporate governance and
corporate social responsibility. To that end the Canadian
Co-operative Association, interested in promoting good governance
and social responsibility practices to its member co-operatives,
sponsored Coro Strandberg of Strandberg Consulting to conduct
an international thought-leaders study on this convergence
issue.

This joint report by the Canadian Co-operative Association
and Brown Governance Inc. includes data from over 400 Canadian
co-ops and credit unions and provides the first and only

Up: National Report on Credit Union Governance Practices
September 2004 ($)
This joint report by the Canadian Co-operative Association
and Brown Governance Inc. includes data from over 200 Canadian
credit unions and provides the first and only national picture
of Canadian credit union board practices. Measuring Up allows
credit unions to compare their governance practices with
peers of a similar size as the report compares directorship
practices between credit unions of different asset size.
Data on corporate sector practices are also included, allowing
credit unions to see how their governance practices either
lead or lag the corporate sector.

The Dialogue: Member Consultation and Communication in Co-operatives
and Credit Unions (PDF)
As follow-up to the discussions sparked at the Canadian
Co-operative Association (CCA) 2001 National Congress, Mountain
Equipment Co-op, together with CCA and Solstice Consulting,
conducted a survey to deepen co-operatives’ collective
understanding of the practical means to improve member engagement.
